Rotary Drum Dryer

Continuous drying for wood chips, sawdust and prepared biomass materials.

Overview

Rotary Drum Dryer

The rotary drum dryer is designed for continuous drying of wood chips and sawdust before pelletizing or other biomass processing. Applicable single-machine configurations cover 1–10 TPH and can reduce material moisture from approximately 50% to around 10% under suitable operating conditions. Final performance is confirmed from the raw material, heat source and required output moisture.

This biomass rotary dryer conditions wet wood chips or sawdust before fine grinding and pelletizing, with the heat source and residence time matched to the actual material.

Working Principle

Material is fed into the machine through the selected feeding system. The processing unit reduces or conditions the material, and the finished product is discharged to the next step. The actual rotor, screen, conveying and power arrangement depends on the selected model.

Optional Configuration

  • Electric or diesel drive where applicable
  • Conveying and screening equipment
  • Dust collection and safety protection
  • Control system matched to the line
Selection guide

How a biomass dryer is sized

Dryer capacity depends on the amount of water that must be removed, not only the wet feed tonnage. Share input moisture, required output moisture, material type and planned throughput. The available heat source, local fuel and emissions requirements also affect the drum, furnace, airflow and dust-control arrangement.

Moisture balance

Measure representative input moisture and define the required final moisture.

Heat source

List locally available fuel or energy and applicable site restrictions.

Connected equipment

Match the dryer to upstream chipping and downstream grinding or pelletizing capacity.
